Destination Wedding Tuscany

I am fortunate to be planning my very first wedding in Tuscany in July this year and a second one for September 2017. Planning a destination wedding takes the same format as planning a wedding here in the UK. I follow the same planning process, where ever the wedding is being held. Start by locating your venue, short list about four of them and go and visit them. You can spend a weekend in the location of your choice and visit your possible venues, hire a car and travel around to get a real feel for the area that you’d like to have your wedding.

There are more logistical challenges with planning a destination wedding, transport can be one, especially if you want to get your guests from airports and then move them around. You will also have the language barrier, although certainly in Italy and in Spain I have had no problems at all speaking to suppliers.

One thing that really important to check when you are getting costs from suppliers and venues overseas is the added tax or VAT. All of the EU countries have it and in some it’s as high as 22%. Make sure you always check the costs and the hidden extras. Again it all comes back to checking your terms properly, but you would do that in the UK.

Tuscany is a particularly stunning part of the world and one thing you are guaranteed is better weather than the UK, fabulous food and lots of it and wonderful vino. Look forward to sharing some pictures with you from my destination wedding in Tuscany.

Happy Planning!
