01 Nov Renewal of Vows – Down Hall
The summer was super busy. In June, we had a renewal of Vows – Down Hall. Michelle and Barry came to me about two years before their renewal of vows. They wanted to do it in 2017, but we couldn’t get the right venue, as they wanted to be not too far away from home, so all their friends and family could attend and Barry didn’t want it to be in London, as he spends so much time there for work.
Down Hall was the chosen venue. It offered so much for them, a spa, great food, a stunning place and they could all stay overnight and make a weekend of it. My couple were Essex based and so I wanted to use as many local suppliers as possible to create their day. I have an amazing black book of suppliers that I can recommend to my clients. Each one I match carefully with their requirements, the style and feel of their wedding and their budget.
Planning a renewal of vows is similar in mnay ways to planning a wedding, but with less pressure, as couples that choose to do this, just want to celebrate, so the details are not the main thing. Michelle described it to me as a celebration of life and I thought that’s exactly it. We approached it by planning a great dinner and party, the music was very important to both of them and then we added the sentiment of the day on after. First stop then the entertainment….we had a pianist as guests arrived, the amazing Amy Langmead sang through the ceremony and during drinks. It was a really hot day and guests were just dancing outside, it was brilliant. During dinner the wonderful Ian Thompson had everyone singing along and then I roped in a little help from Mr LPW and he pulled the band together for me, One Foot in the Groove (helps when your husband is a professional musician and brilliant drummer) finally DJ for the night, the very best, MLC
The actual renewal of vows was conducted by the wonderful Julia Hill, with whom we have worked many times and these images were taken by the amazing Jasmine Jade, who came to my rescue and who I will be foreever grateful to. Thanks Jas xx
