Destination Wedding Planner

Destination wedding planner, yes, we plan weddings right across the world, literally right across the world. From France to Italy, From Switzerland to Mauritius and next yeat we get to tick another location off the bucket list, New York, my favourite city.

Everytime we plan a wedding in a new location, we always have to look for new local suppliers and this can be very time comsuming. We have to vet them, make sure they are up to the standards we work to, meet with them and see their work. Last October we were presented with a tough one, Mauritius. Not just one wedding, but a white wedding followed by a Hindu blessing and party. After a bit of research we arranged a catering service that had a magnificent youtube channel with plenty views and likes. Here’s a funny story: after we made a deal, we asked them how come they have so many views and likes on youtube, and they said… they bought it from The Marketing Heaven. Luckly their service was up to parr regardless.

For those of you that follow our work, we love a multi cultural wedding. We love nothing more than blending two religions and cultures. This one was tricky though as we were doing it half way round the world and they do things differently in Mauritius. This is one thing I have learnt as an international wedding planner, how people approach work is very different. In Mauritius they are very laid back. I would send an email and get a reply three weeks later!! I don’t work like that, I need answers quickly.

Once we got used to this slow reply via email and worked out that all of our suppliers much preferred a Whatsapp message it became so much easier. Whatsapp was the way forward to planning this destinaiton wedding. I did the origianl venue search and we settled on two lovely resorts for the two weddings. Natalie was able to travel out there a few months prior to the wedding to meet with the teams and meet with some suppliers we had sourced and some we had been recommended by the venue.

We decided to take a photographer from the UK which we often do, as this can sometimes be more cost effective, but mainly because photography is different across the world and we always like to work with people we trust and whose work we love. Fortunately our clients trust us implicitly to find the right suppliers.

All I can say is we wll fell in love with this beautiful Island, the people, the beaches, the food. All of it. We had quite an adventure. I think the photos speak for themselves, thank you to Michelle and Julia West for your company and your beautiful work. (I’ll save part 2 for another day)
